Dynamic Duo

First meeting of brother and sister. Don't think Emilee has any clue what she is in for.

Doesn't look real thrilled with this little wiggly person trying to sit on her lap. She touched him with her pointer finger and then promptly tried to push him away so she could go play with her toys.

He is so tiny compared to Em at this age. Emilee was short and chunky and this guy is long and lean. He is now 5 lbs 8 ounces and we are trying to pack on the pounds!

Some brother/sister bonding time before going to bed.

I just had to post this one of Emilee. She was wearing her Wonder Woman t-shirt, but apparently this Wonder Woman doesn't like to touch rugs, and so she hugs the corner of the wall to stay on the tile. She cracks me up!

We Got Him!!!

The last couple of days have been a crazy roller coaster. We are happy to introduce the newest addition to the family, Wesley David. He was born Saturday night and weighed 5 lbs 10 ounces and was 17 inches long. Birthparents were adamant that they were not going to sign the papers, but it's amazing how persuasive CPS can be in a situation like this. They finally signed last night and we go to pick him up from the hospital at 10:00 this morning. We are so thankful for the many prayers that were offered on our behalf and feel so blessed that we have the opportunity to have this sweet little guy become a part of our family.

Let me just explain that if I look a little crazed here, it's because it had been a really long day and I was still in disbelief. We fill in with the complete story a little later...

What the Hail Part 2

This morning Em and I were greeted with SCRAAAAP, SCRAAAAAAAP, CLOMP, CLOMP, CLOMP overhead. The roofers are here to replace the roof today. Perfect timing as another wind, rain, and hail storm assaulted us again last night. I didn't realize they were coming today, so my car is stuck in the garage while they work, and so therefore we are stuck in the house. Tremendous! Emilee has issues (don't we all) with new things and new noises. I am proud to say that she has done very well with the roofing crew so far and she only had about 5 minutes of shaking and refusing to move early this morning. Somehow I don't think that I'm going to be able to get her to take a nap today...

The Great Outdoors

As everyone already knows, Em is a very cautious child. Anything new takes Emilee at least 5 minutes of looking and pointer finger touching before she deems it acceptable. However, grass is apparently in a category all it's own. No amount of pointer finger touching or forcing her to crawl on the ground will make grass ok for her.

This is Emilee waving hi as Dave mows the grass. Little does she know what awaits her in the great outdoors...

This was my compromise. She was outside, not touching grass, and I could get some work done in the garden.

And then the next day I decided that she just needed to deal with it and I sat her in the grass. After she stopped shaking - yes shaking-she sat and watched us plant the garden just fine. She still refused to touch any grass with her hands.

So I put a clump of grass on her pant leg, to see if she would touch it and give it her pointer finger seal of approval.

Almost touching...nope - not gonna do it!

She loved to touch her shoes - with the pointer finger of course.

And then she decided that she was tired of looking at grass and took her eyes to the sky.

I think that I'll just watch Dad. (Notice how the hands are held closely to her body - she didn't want to accidentally touch any grass!)

My Little Helper

Emilee is wanting to contribute more to household chores, because she loves to help me clean up. Granted, she has a different way of going about it than I do, but the help always makes the task more interesting and entertaining. Take for example, her help in cleaning up her room and closet.

Ohhh...hangers are lots of fun.

This is a cool trick...

What mom?? I'm only trying to help.

Little Miss Jones

Emilee has gotten to become good friends with Little Miss Jones. They play well together and love to hang out and crawl around the carpet. Little Miss Jones has been a great influence on Em, as she is already pulling up on things and trying to walk. They do make a very cute and interesting pair, as Little Miss Jones is tall and lean for her age, and Em is short and "healthy" for her age. The perfect ying and yang to build a friendship on! Little Miss Jones has a fabulous mom who is extremely crafty and always has little Jones in the cutest clothes and hair accessories. I have not been able to find any decent hair clips that will stay in Em's hair, and commented on Little Miss Jones's cute hair clip on Sunday. Momma Jones let me try it in Em's hair and it stayed in!

Hallelujah - now maybe all the old men that are taken in by Emilee at the grocery store will stop asking me how old my son is. Apparently they over look the abundance of pink that she is wearing. It could also be that she has taken to hissing at people she doesn't know that throws them off. Yes - I said hissing. Don't you wish that your child could do that in public to strangers?

I inquired where I could purchase such fine hair clips and she stated that she made them and would gladly make some for Emilee. Imagine my excitement when I found this on the front door...




...and inside contained an abundance of bows. Each one the cutest thing ever!





Every day I have a different favorite.


I was so excited to try them out that Emilee got to wear this cute pink one while she was still in her jammies.



And the black bow is the perfect addition to her rocker Rolling Stones outfit!

A million thanks to Little Miss Jones and her mom - it was exactly what I needed to brighten up the week!!
